Default Cub 127 charging issues

I can't get my cub 127 to charge. Had the generator rebuilt and it is getting 13.65 volts from the f terminal on the generator to the battery ground. Ammeter stays on the O. And I have 12.56 volts at the battery. I put a new voltage regulator on too but can't see any sparks from polarizing it. Went over all the grounds I could find and cleaned them. Any ideas? Thanks

The S/G should be putting out about 14.5 VDC at full throttle.

IF....the V/R is the correct one, and it is wired correctly, make sure that the V/R is properly grounded. There should be zero ohms resistance between the V/R mounting feet and the battery negative terminal.

Can you clarify this? 13.65 to battery ground? F terminal is indeed meant to be grounded but switched if you will by the v/r, not a constant ground. Have you verified that everything is wired correctly? 2 wires on A terminal and 1 wire on F terminal. Wiring has to be correct in order to get that 13.65 volts to the battery. See below link for proper wiring

Yes everything appears to be wired correctly by looking at schematics. I'm at a loss.

I guess it's possibe to that the new voltage regulator is working either? It's from eBay with the gen terminal underneath it.

Oh and is there anyway to measure voltage from the regulator to the battery to see if maybe a wire is broke in the harness somewhere?

That's what's confusing to me. If you have 13.65 at the s/g A terminal then you should have 13.65 at the battery because of the way it's wired. Do you have it at the F terminal? If you do then it sounds like s/g wired wrong internally or maybe it was rebuilt for CW rotation instead of CCW

I have 13.65 volts from the f terminal to the battery ground. I never used the voltmeter from the a terminal to the battery ground.

Well tonight I ran temp wire from the bat terminal on the voltage regulator to the negative side of the ammeter. The ammeter started working and I have 13.54 volts at the battery. Sound like that's the problem? If so is 14 guage wire big enough for this job? Thanks for all the help

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
