Can anyone give me any info on this tractor? Serial #69884. I was told it was 1 of 9 made and all sent to California. Deck is painted red, yellow and black. mule drive is painted black. motor is a Kohler 8hp painted white. I can see on mule drive where there is yellow paint under black and tape lines on dash. Or is it just a model 70 that someone painted like this? Thanks for any info Al

Looks like a 70 to me, looks like someone had some extra spray paint burning a hole in the shelf.

Its a early 70. Looks like the bigger battery box. But other then that nothing real special. Just a cool old solid working machine. I have one in pieces at the moment

I see you are in MO. also , i live by Boonville MO.

I was at a swap meet a few years back and there was a guy there selling a 70 or a 100 and he gave me the same story of the 1 of 9 and built for California. Has to be the same guy , and he wanted an insane price.

I wasn't going to argue with him about what he told me because i am not a Cub expert , but i have never heard of something like that.

I think i even searched the net about something like that and found nothing about a California only Cub.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
