Just wondering if anyone has re-powered with an efi engine, and what kind of mods had to be done to do so. For approximately the same $ as a carburetor engine, I thought it would be worth looking into. Thanks for any help.

Thanks jmech. The return line is one thing I was thinking it may need, but was not sure. Like I was saying the prices are pretty comparable, so since its possible, I think that may be the way I go. Thanks again for the link.

I work on electronic motors everyday. I don't want one in my lawn mower. More expensive parts that can fail. I'll stick with a carbureted motor on my tractors. Cheaper/easier to work on. Just my

I re-powered my 1541 with an ECH23. Here is the thread.
http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=17159 I decided to go with EFI after reading so many posts with people having trouble with their carburetor equipped engines. It reminded me of the 1980's when automobile engines were such a pain to keep running with all the stuff needed to meet pollution standards using carburetors. The latest EFI series from Kohler use pretty inexpensive parts. The computer module is around $120. A few years ago the same part was over $300. The motor runs great all the time and uses a lot less fuel. I would use an ECH engine if I had to do it again.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
