There are also cases where the S/G will continually turn the engine over (no matter where the key is) when an incorrect V/R is installed.

Help us out. What do you mean by incorrect? Is it a 4 wire with the "L" terminal on it? Or is it something else? Or is it a VR you took off a ??????

I should rephrase my last post here.

There are also cases where the S/G will continually turn the engine over (no matter where the key is) when a "different" (different, meaning not exactly like the original) V/R is installed and not wired as the it (the new one) should be.

I don't think changing my post makes any difference, but it has been bugging me that I didn't really say what I really meant.

the VR is pretty rusty and off a old jacobsen chief, it has 3 posts on it for wires, the old one had 4, but this one did have another post on the back side of it so i put a wire there, i threw out the old VR because the rubbers on all 4 sides were rotted and broke off, does it have something to do with the SG i will get pics soon

dont know where this wire goes to, it was never hooked up even with the old v/r, there is also a disconnected wire under the dash never hooked up

Default V/R
Hello Cubcadet,Too me your problem sounds like your V/R is wired wrong.You may want to visit the tech section of this forum and double check to make sure all the wires are were they belong.Also that prong on the back of some V/R's is not the ground.
