Does a 682 not have a ported pump? I have a 682, and I have a 1711 (without a motor) that I was going to make an articulating one from. And was thinking I would put the hydraulic lift from it on the 682.

Other than that, is the 682 & 1711 rear the same? Same gear ratio? I don't need 2 ported rears on the articulated 4x4, I may use one in the 682.

The only difference between the two would be if your 682 is IH or CCC built or not.
If it is IH built it will have the cast rear and if it is CCC built it will have the alum rear but the pumps are the same. |

The 682 I have is IH built & I think it has an aluminum rear. The 1711 is CCC built. It's rear is different material?

An IH built 682 should not have an aluminum rear. Quick ways to tell include are to count the bolts in the hitch plate. Aluminum rears have 5 bolts and cast rear ends have 3. The back cover in an aluminum rear end would have an x-pattern in it with no oil plug. Usually, cast rear ends are the same color as the frame and aluminum rears are black. That is a quick way, but beware, during the transition phase of IH to CCC, there are black cast iron rears.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
