Default Mower Decks

Is there somewhere you can get the numbers to the decks on the older Cubs? I found this one in town next to me. Will it fit my 124?

Can you post an underneath side photo? I think it's the first series of the 48" 3-spindle deck. To find it on CC website, go to the Attachments section for your 124 and select 48" 3 spindle deck. Should be part 1 (1963-1968). Yes, it will work on your 124 as long as you have the correct subframe. That deck is setup for the pin-on style, not the quick attach style that would have originally come on your 124.

It looks homemade. The deck shell looks fabricated.

Thanks Oak,
I see it's missing the guards? And I still haven't found the thread that puts the decks with the tractors?

I agree.
The corners are sharper than factory and although hard to see, likely all welded corners versus bent corners.

Yes I m thinking the same thing, if you look along the front where the deck gets deeper, along those rust lines looks like maybe the upwards offset was made using a piece of angle iron. Where the rust lines lay seem to be a seam.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
