 Here is the Wiring Diagram from Cub Cadet. Don't see a red ground wire. Typically, the ground wire is either Black or Green.

I had bought a 102 or a 122 at a garage sale a few years ago that had the same red wire. Look at my photo album in my profile. There is a pic of the same red wire. Not sure why a ground wire is red but as Lew says it is what it is.

In the 123 service manual it has the wire marked as pink, but I know it is red as I repaired a 122 harness and it was red in the wire loom.

I have learned along the years, there are a lot Cub Cadet inconsistencies. This is probably one of them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
