Sam,
Welcome to the world of these older tractors. You have jumped right in. Nice drive shaft update. That is a week link in the Cub system. I dont have a 149, but have been bugging a friend about the one he has. Would be nice to have the hydraulic lift for the tiller.
Your doing a good job with the clean up and rebuild.
I think it looks pretty good, I have brought home much worse looking ones.

Stop and make the family some pancakes

Regards,
Chris

Glued the brake pads to the backing plates yesterday. Pics later.

I'm gonna be busy for a couple days trying to save my BIL's Snapper ZTR. What a total POS. Plus he's one of those that just runs things till they stop. What a mess. Took me an hour with the pressure washer just to clean up the grass buildup. If you guys think the Cyclops suck when it comes to flaking powder coating you should see this turd. I'm afraid it will contaminate my shop.

Sam,

How thick were the brake pads you removed and how thick are the new ones?

I'm looking into the brake pads on my 126 and have a good 1/8 inch of pad - but no brakes!

Were yours worn all the way down to the metal the pad sets-on?

On another note, while you've got the ZTR in the shop, maybe you can roll it outside and light a match to it. Tell the BiL lightening struck it... You know we've had a few thunder storms roll through the area...

Pics of the drive shaft installed on the 149 along with the brass PTO button from Jeff. The brake pads came out nice, gotta order some axle seals now.

The Red POS that is contaminating my shop. Good thing is I was able to get the Red turd running after pulling the blower housing and getting the flywheel freed up from the mags because of the rust. Got the PTO working and found out that the rectifier is toast. Parts on order and it will be out the door soon. As much as I think this thing sucks there is no reason to let any piece of equipment be neglected like this has been.

If that snapper mates with your 149, you are gonna have a mess on your hands.

Sam,

You're doing the Lords work fixing that Snapper...

Speaking of filthy tractors, take a look-see at this thread:

http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic...p-a-new-horse/

I've never seen a tractor with so much caked up dirt, grease, etc on it - LOL!

Btw, what do you have in mind for the sickle bar you got with the 149? Use it, restore it, sell it - just curious.

Looking good,
Bill

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
