The Super will be earning her keep quick enough....This gives me some time to check all the rearend bolts, new hyro filter, and weld a nut on the inside of the frame for attachements...

They have one 3/4 nut welded in there but on the opposite side I had to always fish a nut up behind the hydo couplers....PITA!!! Gonna fix that with a quickness.

Double check for fuel smell in your oil. When my super spit the front seal it was because there was fuel in the oil. Failed fuel pump.

Also be careful of the seal. The one for the kt17 is a tad too small. They gave me one of those the 1st time.

I installed a new pump this summer Squatch...I gave them the part numbers at the dealer.... Hopefully they get it right as I was looking over their shoulder on the parts software.. lol

I did find out I have the newer oil breather in it...Old one was a round rubber type of washer and mine has a spring steel flapper...Saved me another 20 bucks.

My 1862 went through 2 seals in the same way. The first one was replaced by an independent repair shop bc I had no time to get to it. The second seal blew out within a year of the first. I ended up putting gasket varnish on the seal OD when I did it. It's been running (knock on wood) for 3+ years this way now. When I was in the process of getting it done, I think someone on this site recommended putting in 2 seals so one would back up the other. Never did tho. This past summer I thought the seal blew out again, but it was the oil pressure sending unit that was dripping out oil. You may want to check yours to be sure it is not oozing. The replacement Kohler sending unit was leaking just as bad as the one that was replaced. I ended up replacing that one under warranty.

My sending unit is good to go but the valve cover gaskets are about shot....
