I'm almost positive the only differance between the 169 and the 149, 129 is the motor and graphics. So finding parts wouldn't be a problem unless your looking for a engine

oh yeah i forgot about the muffler. those dang things are pricey if you find them.

When I bought my 169, it had a manual lift but the pump was ported but plugged. Apparently both the 149 and 169 models had this feature. Maybe only in the later portion of the model year. My 169 was made in late Sept, 1974.

I gotta agree with the other guys... What the "heck" is he thinking??? In EVERY case the seller wants as much as he can possibly get for it and the buyer wants to pay as little as possible, end of story!
The seller is obligated to offer it for HIS price, the buyer can then counter offer and negotiate from there. If he won't give you a price, start him out at $20.00 and force him to tell you how much he wants.

Last year I bought a 169 from a guy here in MI and it had a 12hp engine in it. It also came with the 129 that the engine come from and a 14hp engine that he said "had a noise in it". I gave him 300.00 for it and I was at least able to make sure that it moved and hyd work ok. Then I had to find an engine and finally found a complete good running engine, complete with s/g, and muffler, but paid way more than I did for the tractor. The engines and mufflers are hard to find. It is an identical tractor as my 149s, just different hp

He told me today I probably wouldn't be interested as it has no mower deck. I'm done playing games. I think at this point even if he wanted $20.00 I'd tell him to shove it. Well maybe not for $20.00 but I think you get the point. I do not want to play games with him.
I basically told him if you don't really want to sell it Just say so. A deck is a minor detail as they are on craigslist all the time. Although now I'm getting offered a 147 149 and 1250 from another guy but again he wants to play the make me an offer game too. How about an 1100 for $200 no picture. just a description saying the briggs has been removed pending rebuild. Are the 1100's as good as the kohler cubs.
