Yep you can probably put a Sundstrand in it but you will need to address a couple issues. 1 drive shaft 2 hydraulic lines 3 linkage 4 front mounts.

Did you check to see if the charge pump is bad on the Hydro Gear?

Ray

I went the other way with a 1210. Put a 1440 rear in the 1210. That said what's the plan for a drive shaft? The 1641 has a CV shaft and the pump adapter is the fine spline one. Does the Sundstrand pump have the 5/8" round with the pin or the splined input shaft? Also the linkage for the shifter is different Hydro Gear VS Sundstrand. Not saying it can't be done just saying it's not just take one out and replace it with the other.

I most times leave th couplers on the pumps so that will be there as we prolly have 30 or so of those pumps I was going to use a 1862 drive shaft which is a direct bolt in only thing that will need to be addressed is the hyd lift lines not sure if I have the 1862 hyd lift lines

I thought an 1862 was a Sunstrand and the 1863 was a hydro gear pump. Either way there should be a bunch of those pumps from the xxx0 and xxx1 machines available. If your just using the tractor for mowing an HG pump should be fine.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
