Are you getting fenders for it?
How many goodies are putting on this O?,They add up quickly.
yes I did ask him about that. I had that on my 582. froze up the inside and pushed the oil out.
he said this one has never had fenders on it. but yes I'll be finding them for it. and prob a hood. he said he hamered out some dents, and pics dont/ never show what they really look like.

Id like it to have light front and back. a rear lift with spring assist. fenders. wheel weights

I think mine and your Idea of a restored tractor is way off. I'll have a couple hundred dollars just in the paint and clear. I dont do rattle can paint jobs. thats whats on my 882 and it looks like shizzznit.
I am pretty sure I am meticulas when it comes to restos', and I also do not use rattle cans, but a QT is only $25... not breaking the bank there. I would never spend that much on paint when the CC stuff is just as durable. And since CC no longer manufactures White for the O, I am just going with a White enamel that I will have slightly tinted. Personally, I don't like the look of fenders on an O, so I save money there, and headlights are something that I will put on down the road if the price is right. Good luck with it, it seems like you want it... so happy negotiating!

This is your post, and I wish you the best with it!

Both "O's" are nice starting points. IHCC104's has the weights on the back, so there's $100 right there. As far as restoring a cub, everyone has different opinions and abilities.

4Speed's Original looks to be in nice shape. You'd probably be able to sell the deck and offset some of the purchase price. Deck looks to be in nice shape. Congrats on the purchase!

Either of them are priced good. Around here, you just can't find any decent Originals. And if you do, they price is high IMHO.

thats the problem with trying to buy anything now days.

10 / 15 years ago something that old would sell for 50 bucks or less

today everyone looks at what they could part it out for. 100 for weights 200 for fenders 175 for the oil bath 50 bucks for the sheet metal 100 for the trans.
they dont want to do the work to get that kind of money (parting it) so they say it worth that in parts. but to me as a hole its not a 625.00 tractor.

we all see it all the time on CL. guy has a POS for sale , asking way to much. cause he thinks he can get that out of it in parts.

Doug congrats on your O! My only advice is do it right when your doing it and don't worry about the end price if your never going to part with it. My motto is if it needs it it gets it.

Doug, I'll keep my eye out for another back rest. I like having a pan seat with a back rest. We're looking forward to your questions and check the gears in the tranny for any broken gears. BTDT

in regard to things going for too much, there's a guy in MA trying to sell a 125 in identical condition to mine minus the unmasked rattle can treatment (lived outside for a while, surface rust, faded dash, wear & tear etc.) for 1200, which is about 5 times what I paid for mine. I guess some people out there just hear "cub cadet" and "cha ching" as the same. too bad, it makes it hard for younger people to get started.

otherwise, congrats on the O! Someday one will find its way into my shed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
