Do some pressure testing to find out what is going on.

Does you lift work?
If not than your issue is in the charge pump area, no oil or filter blockage. The charge pump is right behind the Rag Joint on the drive shaft. Its held to the trans by 2 bolts. If you remove it make sure you mark the cover to the block it has to go on the same way other wise it will not work. You can also check the pump by removing the allen head screw between the relief valves, this is a test port for the pump. If you have a pressure gage that you can thread in to this port you would get 70-150 psi in neutral, 500-650 psi under load. If you don't have a gage you can hook a hose up and see if any thing comes out into a jug with some force. If your lift is working chance are the charge pump is in good shape. There is a regulator valve that controls the oil from the charge pump to the main pump of the trans. Its rare for this an issue but its the last thing before declaring the trans is shot. This valve is located on the right side of the trans (as you sit on the tractor) and right behind the right bolt that holds the charge pump on. It larger than a 9/16 bolt head. Not much to it just a spring and a ball again rare it would fail. |

Thank Roland!
There is also a section in the manual that shows the charge pump removal. http://ccmanuals.info/pdf/1x8-9%20&%...e%20Manual.pdf I notice in the library that I did not see the service manual specific to the hydro, did I miss it? |

in the manual it also states that the draw/cooling tube should be filled if you drained the fluid and refilled. its a chance that the pump isnt priming then. i shoved a flexible hose in mine with a large syringe attached to fill the tube as much as possible.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
