Are using ISO mounts or solid mounts?
What condition is the drive-shaft in (around throwout bearing area)? What condition is the clutch hanger assembly and clutch hanger lever in? It sounds like something isn't right in the clutch. Stock spring is rated at 250 to 275 pounds. Red spring is rated at 800 pounds. Yellow spring is rated at 1100 pounds. Both red and yellow springs are too much for every day use....been there done that. You should beef up the clutch hanger assembly to use a heavier spring. I'm using a spring from an Allis Chalmers cultivator. It's rated at 500 to 600 pounds.
