Red or Yellow spring?
 

Well found out the stock spring in my 1200 i put in there when rebuilding it isnt strong for nothing. So going to replace it with a stronger one, was wondering if you guys would recommend the red or yellow spring from midwest super cub? This is my plow tractor dirt and snow and I make her work. Also the bushing in the solid 3 pin driver where can you can get a new one of those? dealer cant get em.

There has to be something wrong with the clutch set up. The stock spring should be all you need. But if your going to replace it go with the red one.

Why not a blue one? I know that a lot of people are using a New Holland cultivator spring. My 582 has one in it. It works just fine holding the power of a M18. Here is the part number.

Are using ISO mounts or solid mounts?

What condition is the drive-shaft in (around throwout bearing area)?

What condition is the clutch hanger assembly and clutch hanger lever in?

It sounds like something isn't right in the clutch.

Stock spring is rated at 250 to 275 pounds. Red spring is rated at 800 pounds. Yellow spring is rated at 1100 pounds. Both red and yellow springs are too much for every day use....been there done that. You should beef up the clutch hanger assembly to use a heavier spring.

I'm using a spring from an Allis Chalmers cultivator. It's rated at 500 to 600 pounds.

Mounted it solid. All the clutch is new and driveshaft is about new condition no wear. Clutch hanger is beefed up already, had the clutch slippage issue before on another tractor. Think im gunna go with red from the sounds id rather it be too stiff than not enough. Plus the price is the same as a stock. Thanks for the input.

When you guys say beefed up what areas are you talking about? Pics?

Merk, do you have a partnum for that AC spring?

I assume the higher the rating spring the bigger and more tired you leg is gonna be right?

Im sure you have had the plates machined or checked for flatness? Whats the minimum thickness on those any one know?

You could try getting split collars and compressing the stock spring more. I have the red spring on my puller compressed to 4.625" with split collars, with the stock length clutch arm it's a bear to use. Definitely not usable for every day work. Maybe at stock compression length it would be alright.
