Put the 149 up on the lift today to do a good check out. If I was smart I’d part it out but I’m not all that smart. Here is what I have found so far. PTO is toast, broken and missing bolts that hold the rear end in place (and you guys thought it was only the aluminum rears the had this problem) choke and throttle cables are frozen and need to be replaced, drive shaft is a mess, gotta love the grade 5 bolt (I have a plan for this) axle seals are leaking (BTDT) Oh yeah 2 of the 4 bolts that hold the engine in are missing. Not sure about it charging, wiring looks like poop, brake pads are shot, the seat is trash. Hydro lever is loose and I can’t get it off the shaft. Let’s not even talk about cosmetics. I’m out of my mind but I’m gonna patch this turd up enough that it will run the tiller.

Have not found a cracked frame, yet. Gonna pull the fender pan and pressure wash the pig to see what I have. I know the rear and the engine are coming out. This is going to be a very low budget fix or it's getting parted out. Engine runs great and the trans seems to be good. If they had issues it would be parts city for it. Oh yeah I forgot the head lights work perfect, LMAO

Oh Goody Goody. I'll take a Ratty Cyclops over this POS any day. Only reason I may fix it is for tiller duty. 1maybe 2 hours of use per year. I need a lobotomy.

X2 It is a 149. Doesn't sound too far removed from my 129. Wiring, trans leaks, control lever splines stripped out, etc, etc. Why don't you just load it up and make the skip and hop down here to GA and we'll fix up our Cubs together. I got the trans out of mine right now.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
