Re-power with efi kohler 19 hp?

Just wondering if anyone has re-powered with an efi engine, and what kind of mods had to be done to do so. For approximately the same $ as a carburetor engine, I thought it would be worth looking into. Thanks for any help.

Yep, they have. This guy did a great job. It's a good read.

Thanks jmech. The return line is one thing I was thinking it may need, but was not sure. Like I was saying the prices are pretty comparable, so since its possible, I think that may be the way I go. Thanks again for the link.

I work on electronic motors everyday. I don't want one in my lawn mower. More expensive parts that can fail. I'll stick with a carbureted motor on my tractors. Cheaper/easier to work on. Just my :TwoCents:

I re-powered my 1541 with an ECH23. Here is the thread.

I decided to go with EFI after reading so many posts with people having trouble with their carburetor equipped engines. It reminded me of the 1980's when automobile engines were such a pain to keep running with all the stuff needed to meet pollution standards using carburetors.
The latest EFI series from Kohler use pretty inexpensive parts. The computer module is around $120. A few years ago the same part was over $300.
The motor runs great all the time and uses a lot less fuel. I would use an ECH engine if I had to do it again.
