I am new to this forum. I only restored my first cub two years ago (169) and a 129, but everything was present and in good running order. Not good with wiring/engine stuff yet. My dad has his original 149 that I have good memories of using as a teenager (37 now). I'm trying to learn my self by reading, and not use a shop....yet.
I wanted a Quietline and I picked up a 1450 in rough shape but only for $125 bucks, It does not turn over with the ignition switch-sounds ok to me. (I put a new solenoid in thinking maybe that's a problem and can jump or turn engine over at least by that by connecting the posts with a screwdriver. safety switch issue?. the previous owner (sadly passed and the son sold tractor). He (rigged) ran a wire from under the pto to a new switch he made come out of the dash tower, then it runs back to the battery but its not connected to the batter when I try to start with the ignition switch. the pto does spin in the front still. the two wires to the clutch switch were tied together with a break in the wire, I cleaned and repaired those and hooked them back. Long but like I slike to get it to run before progressing of course. PS. thanks for the welcome in the new members section. I tried another forum a year or so ago, and didn't feel very comfortable/welcome so stopped attempting. Found this site a few weeks ago and am very pleased. There's no comparison to the new tractors and these 70s cub |

May be a problem with the pto switch the start circut goes through it i have 2 1450s and one of mine had a bad connection there and would not start. The wiring diagrams are available in the technical section they may help you track down your problem

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
