Default 800 Pics Needed

May be going to look at an 800 this afternoon and was wondering if anyone had pics of the muffler/starter still mounted on their tractor so i can verify these are original. Or pics off the tractor would help.

Was the starter/muffler the only HTF parts on the 800 or is there anything else to look out for ???

Thanks , Darrell

Air cleaner is another main one. Some were saying in another thread that if it has internal rear breaks, that makes it a little more rare

I don't have any pics of the starter, but it should be easy to tell if it's original. The replacement starter doesn't fit in the frame without modifications.

Starter, Air Cleaner, PTO, Muffler, Support between the motor and muffler box are 800 only parts. The crankshaft is only used on 86 and 800 motor.

IH start going back to internal brake system when Quiet Line series was being produce. Quiet Line Cub Cadets started production in October of 1974. Last 800 was made in Janurary of 1976. There was 2345 units produce. Having a 800 with internal brakes is possible....nothing special from what I've been told or read.

My 800 was made in April of 1975. My Dad's 1450 Feburary of 1977. Both have external brakes.

Thanks for all the info , but probably a bit to rough for me , even though it is an 800. Maybe if parts were easier to find i would get it.

Muffler and the sheetmetal around the muffler are missing.

Doesn't look to be too bad of an 800. Every once in a while, the starters and mufflers come up on evilpay. They are usually pretty pricey though. Are the side covers there? Shoot, if the price is right, go for it. You might someday find the missing parts.

On a side note, the internal/external brake thing is something I didn't know about. Pretty interesting. Anyone have any more info on it? Went out and checked my 800 and it has the internal brake. Serial number 568xxx. Just curious.

The serial number on my 800 is 545379.
Here are a few pictures on my 800:

My 800 was rolled over at one time. The steering wheel is bent. The hood and side pannels weren't on my 800 when I got it. The rear fender was replaced because the one on it was bent when it was rolled.

One of the former owners modified the steering:

He drilled a hole thru the steering lever and bolt assembly and used a slotted nut and cotter pin.

Depends on how bad they want to have the pic:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
