Has anyone heard of adjusting a carb while its under a load? I have a 1650 hydro with the 16hp Kohler. My problem is that it bogs all the way down almost killing the engine when I try to press my hydro lever all the way forward or in reverse (slow or fast). Like the engine can't handle it. It's like the farther is press my lever the lower the engine rpm's go. I was told that I may have to adjust the carb while I had it under a load.
Other info It had a Walbro Carb on it, but it was rotted out. I put a #30 carb off a donor 16hp Kohler w/new carb kit.

I agree, sounds like a governor adjustment. I had a 1450 that did the same thing. once i adjusted the governor it was much better.

If the timing is off, it won't have any power, either.

read the manual and adjusted the carb problem solved thanks guys now i just have to get its hiccup figured out
