86 drive clutch
on my 86 when i push on the pedal, it slows the drive shaft down but doesnt stop it comepletly. so i looked at it up front and noticed the teaser spring was broke. so if i replace this will that cure the problem? if i go from gear to gear its fine but when its in neutral then going into gear is when it doesnt stop

thanks matt. my manual should say how to lube the pilot bushing right? what do you mean by the motor being lined up?

The engine should be straight in the frame so the axis of the crank lines up with the axis of the driveshaft. If there is misalignment the driveshaft will bind. Sometimes you have to loosen the 4 bolts and wiggle the engine around until there is no drag when the clutch is disengaged, and then retighten the bolts.
Yes, there is info in the manual.

went out at squirted some JB80 on the pilot bushing and she works great. someday in the future i think she will need a whole new clutch cuz i think it barely stops. and the teaser wasnt broken. good enough since its just a putt around tractor. thanks again matt
