Default Going to rebuild the 106

Well today i look around for some parts for the 106,i found a Kohler piston and ring kit for $50,and i think a rod for $20 or less. The guy i am getting the parts from is giving the stuff to me for half price,so since the old K241 is getting tired im just going to do it and get it ready for summer. The guy also has gaskets and stuff too,so i think im set for everything i need.

Heres what im working with,i hope to get the parts in a little while,i kinda like to mow with the manual trans now and then, plus it has flawless steeringbut i need to get the brakes working good, because we have a lot of hills, and i dont like to grind the gears, you guys ever try to shim between the pad and cam? Im open to any suggestions/tips on the rebuild and brakes. This is only my second time into a k241.

You can reline the brake pads...I think there are instructions in the tech library.

O,after looking at the pictures i think the big issue is the cam thing, because the pads are still very thick.Thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
