Default Would you choose a 1650 or a 149?

I already have a 123 that was given to me a few years ago and I have the opportunity to buy a 149 or 1650 both in good condition. The 149 has a mower deck, snowblower, and cab. The 1650 has a plow and snowblower. Which would you choose and what would be a fair price to pay for each of them.

By all means...Get BOTH!!!

Obviously, both of them are excellent tractors. I would weigh the pros and cons between the two designs. Gear start vs. Belt start, Solid engine mount vs. ISO mounts, Electric PTO vs. Mechanical, hydro lever location, etc. I guess I would also compare 'apples to apples' on their overall condition and what features work.

Cannot imagine that you could go terribly wrong with either of them. Save yourself a headache and heartache and get both!

Without knowing a bit more about the condition it is hard to tell. I picked up a real clean 1650 once with a 44" deck for $100 from a guy who had no idea what he had. Around my parts, a decent 1650 with plow, no deck and a decent blower....ah, maybe around 500-800. That blower is going for a premium in the northern parts of the US right now, might fetch even more.

BTW, nothing beats that 16hp Kohler, ISO's or not.

Do you have any pics? That really helps with pricing stuff out, but keep in mind prices do vary on where you live.

I live in New England so I'm sure they go for a bit more with the blower and what not.

1650

Those both look like nice tractors. If you plan on using the snow thrower I would go with the 149 with the cab.

I do plan on using the snowblower especially since we have 4' of snow and counting.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
