Default 102 woes,but I ...

Today was a fun day. I picked up a 102 last week and got It running. I went out today and tried to start it, nothing, not even a click.
The PO. put in a ignition switch from a truck, I tested it, and it was good,
Checked all the wiring with my meter all good.
Checked the solenoid and it was no good.
Changed it out and it started right up. Funny thing...I didn't know you could check one if it was bad. I put my probes on the s terminal and grounded it to the metal body no reading on the meter. I tested the others I have and they read 0 ohms.
Any input???

S to ground should have a small, finite resistance. There's an electromagnet in there which closes the main contacts when voltage is applied to the 'S' terminal. I assume by 'no reading' you mean infinite resistance, which means the electromagnet is open and the solenoid is toast.

yes Matt ...Infinite resistance is what I meant. My meter is the dial type, I like the old school stuff...
