Default 782 up and running must read!!

Want to thank all of you that helped me out with your tips and advice.I started with what I thought was a good buy back in January. I purchaced a 782 with dual hydros not hearing it run. I paid $400 (maybe to much) but that included a snow blower, rear IH blade,IH box blade and IH Rake. Before even loading it in my truck I sold to a guy from work the snow blower and box blade. I then sold to another guy the rear landscape rake.Leaving me with a rear IH blade and tractor that I did not yet have running for $200 total invested. I first found the key switch was bad. Bought a new one. Then found points were way off. Set them. Then still would not run.Did a compression test and had low compression. (series II motor). Then came the real work. I pulled the motor, pulled the engine covers off. Pulled heads and saw one head needed replaced.Bought two good heads off ebay for $15. Pulled valves out to rule them out as for compression issue. They were good. had starter rerbuilt while out.Put together and in tractor this weekend. Would only run on full choke. Put in new pump. Still needed full choke. Pulled carb off again. Found main needle pluged. Now purrs like a kitten.End or story!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
