I bought a 1200 at an estate auction in October 2010. It has been sitting in the garage since. Time permitting, I'm planning/hoping that I can begin bringing it back to operational status in January.
Attached are some 'Before' pics that I took when I got it back to the garage. |

The 'Low Ash' tag was still attached to the gear shift. I did not see it until I got it back to the house because it was tucked under the fender pan.
50" Deck needs some detailing, but should turn out well. Gotta love the vice-grip throttle control! I was amazed at the condition of the tunnel cover. It's almost like new... |

Yama, I did not have much trouble getting the engine running. Both the throttle and choke cables were jacked up. It had been sitting for a while, but everything seemed to check out on it. If the hour meter is correct, then it has about 360(?) original hours. Based on the condition of the tractor, I would have to say that it is accurate.
Jay, it is almost a 'plug 'n' play' rehab job. That is about the most I can handle, as I am not nearly as talented with working on Cubs as the majority of you guys on the site. I wish my 782 looked as good as your tractor! If it were not for the Cub forums and a LOT of help from a few friends (Dan, Kevin, Luther, Matt, and more...), all of my Cubs would be stuck in the garage! :biggrin2.gif: |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
