Default 481U1111 / 48" Deck

Started a couple of threads on my deck restore project , paint , parts etc. Was not sure which one to post my finished pics. So why the new thread.

Back on Tractor , after first mow, worked well. Sort of like putting a new chair in the living room makes the rest of the ok furniture look shabby. I see some more painting in my future .

Great job on the deck! Your 123 doesn't look that bad. Is it the original paint? If so I'd leave it it's in good shape.

That is one nice looking deck Jim...Did you replace any bearings or seals? I know the seals are available but the bearings are pricey.
Your missing the guard for the discharge side.If you need one let me know.

The tapered roller bearings for those spindles aren't very expensive at all...they're the same as one of the wheel bearings in basically every GM full-size car from the 70s.

I like that. Nice job. I have the same deck for my 123, in about the same "before" condition. Not sure when I'll refurb mine. The main reason I bought my 123 was for the #1 Tiller it came with. Once I get lower bracket for the three-point and a sleeve hitch adapter, I'm not sure I'll ever put the mower deck back on...... we'll see.

No, I haven't, but they are certainly cheaper than the ST-745 spindles. CC inflates their prices...the cheapest thing to do would probably be to take one out and take it to a Motion Industries or other bearing supplier and have them cross it to something they have in stock. I believe the newer aluminum housing spindles also use tapered roller bearings, and possibly even the same ones.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
