Default What is this Cub Cadet?

I was given this Cub Cadet with no information. The tags on the mower frame by the seat show Mfg. Model #: 14A – 654 – 100 and Serial #: 892659 which when I search on the model # it shows as a Model 3165 BUT the side panels show "1641" --- my question is what model is this Cub Cadet and what year is it.

Thanks in advance!

A picture would help a ton. A 3165 has metal front panels and a 1641 has plastic panels.

Thank you for the quick response and here are some pictures of what I have -- I think that the hood and sides are for the 1641 and I have a 3165. Also, I could not figure out the year based on this model #.

Post a picture of the tag next to the brake pedal. That should have the model number.

Yep, that is what the book says and the internet. Something is a miss, that is a 1641, not a 3165.

Below is a 1641.

Good AM Everyone, I totally agree that something is a miss -- I have been trying to figure exactly what this beast is for months. Attached is the tag near the brake pedal - which shows the model number reflecting that the machine is a 3165. Another note, the serial number seems to be in weird format as well?????

The tag says 14A-653-100, you have 14A-654-100 in the first post. 14A-653-100 is a 1641.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
