Default 2082

Have a chance to buy a 2082 for $200 but it does not run. Rolls over good but will not fire. Owner said it quit on him bout 5 years ago and has been parked under a lean tool. He let me remove spark plugs and they don’t fire.rolled over a lot faster so I believe it has compression. Any ideas ,would it be worth the chance?

WOW! Yeah, if $200 is accurate, that's a steal even if it had NO engine at all.

A SGT is definitely not a throw away Cub.... I have a 2072 and I would have given $1000 without an engine at all!

I've brought home, flipped, semi restored many GT's over the years and I would look at this instance as having 3 paths to explore. 1- forget the engine all together and go straight to Repowering it. 2- Fix the engine it has... 3- Part out the whole machine online and ay local events.

You always have to remember, there is no timeline on a part-out aside from your own financial constraints or goals, it could set (protected) for another 20 years and you could still part it out...

Just my $0.02

Got it home. Mower deck has a few holes which I can weld patches on. Don’t think it has ever been cleaned. Been cranking it over but won’t start, put gas in the carburetor with a squirt can and no go. Pulled plugs and I have a weak spark at best while cranking. Going to check compression, what should it be?? Needs a lot of TLC and new seat. Want to get it running before anything else. No numbers on the engine but I do know it’s a kolher. Anyone know what model it would be when I need parts??

That should have a Kohler 20 Magnum engine in it but post a pic of it if you can. It sounds like your ignition module may be bad but it could be a wiring issue or ignition switch issue. I would down load the free Kohler engine manual.

https://resources.kohler.com/power/k.../tp_2204_b.pdf

Here is the free service manual from our tech section.

Got this beast running. Ignition module, plugs, oil and filter, oil filter hoses, air filter, fuel filter, and lots and lots of cleaning. Mowed for about 10 minutes and has hydraulic leak under the center of the tractor. Other than that I got me a heavy duty mower.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
