1572 starter issues
I'm wondering if i could get advise from the "wise ones" hereon about a starter replacement for my 1572.
Should i spend $300-$400 to get an OEM replacement or go with a $150.00 jungle store version...?

I went with the OEM starter. I found a NOS for under 100.00 a few years ago. What is wrong with yours? They can be rebuilt.
I have a gear reduction on a 1772 and it lasted about a year.

I did have the glow plug upgrade done and a very good ground. The glow plug upgrade helps too.

The problem started with intermittent failure to engage; just click or start to engage then spin... Progressed to nothing with the key and just spinning when jumped across the solenoid posts... I figure the solenoid is bad but they cost more individually than do the whole starter assembly...

Where are you looking for the solenoid? They should not be that expensive.

Enjoyed the pics of your b1572 from when Diesel Doc refreshed it... I bought mine at an estate auction in PA; it had 40 something hours on it; 42 if memory serves... It is still less than 50 hours. The old feller who owned it had a snowblower mounted on the front and only used it when there was a snow worthy of blowing so mostly it sat in his garage... That's just taking up space in the shed now; don't need a snowblower in Eastern NC...
 I'm surprised at the starter issue though, due to low hours...

Do you have a local shop that rebuilds starters and alternators? We still have one but they are getting like radiator repair shops.
