I'm looking to get a snow blower for my 2082. Local CC dealer is saying there are 2 blowers one spins slower than the other. He is saying you want the faster blower. I have an ad in wanted section for the 450. Which one is better? I'm new to these blowers. Thanks. Bob

We got 6-8-12. Luckily its dry not wet. Havent seen or shoveled this much in 20 yrs,if I 'remember'. Thanks guys again.

Member here contacted me. He is close to me. I just want to be prepared for any maintenance this blower may need before I use it. Can anyone with experience give me some, or what to look for when I look at blower. I'm just being prepared.

These things are pretty robust. My 450 (with a 451 gear box) is 40 years old and has been used every winter. Main thing to look at are the gear boxes. Make sure they have the right lubricant in the right amount.
If you can, pull the auger off the gear shaft and inspect the splines. Sometimes the splines fail due to corrosion. I always put never seize on the splines. Also make sure the bearings in the pulleys are OK.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
