Been away from the forum for awhile. Wife has her nice 127 with hyd lift she bought off Scott U at Portland 2 years ago, but its mostly a show ride for her, it doesnt really get worked right now. I have been running off topic tractors for a few years, mostly WH and Allis. Picked up this beater 882 for $500 just north of Toledo in Michigan. Original owner ran it till 2011 when it got parked in the barn as his health started failing. His son in law and his wife got the house and the tractor was still in the barn. He had no clue how to start it and was unable to get it running. We pulled it on our trailer with my wife's quad. I got it started right up the next day. I have been busy fixing some bad wiring, but I mowed with it over the weekend. Runs better the more I work it. Engine got a full fluid change out before getting worked once I knew it would run. New filters all around, 350cca battery, glow plug mod in progress. Starter works fine for now, but once it dies, she will get the gear reduction starter.

Mint! Best ones are the non-runners that only need a bit of work. Bought my 782D for $500 as well and it didn't run from being put together incorrectly. Funny how they're either $500 or $1500 with no in between.

The fun repair is yet to come. all four bolts that go thru the frame rails, thru the axle tubes to the house are broke off down inside where they pass thru the axle tube. Going to hopefully pickup a couple left handed drill bits an try to center drill them to back them out. All without pulling the transmission out an apart. Which I would rather not do as that is a major tear down. Two of the nose bolts had to be drilled out and 2 were missing. I already fixed that so I can drive it. But cant work it to hard till I get the other 4 replaced.

Nice score at a great price, congrats. Make sure and check the drive line. Everyone that I brought home needed lots of work in that area.

Its only driveline issue so far is the broken bolts that hold the transmission to the frame. I have them about half fixed, working on the 4 that go thru the frame, thru the axle tube and into the center casting. Gotta pick up some left handed drill bits so I can back out the threaded part. I will replace them with grade 8 bolts once they are out. Driveshaft wise, everything is tight. Yes, I am well aware how these diesels beat up the drive line.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
