Default 3206 Strange Steering Feel ??

I've searched a good bit here and haven't found a similar issue.

The issue is most of the time the steering feels fine and normal then suddenly it feels like the wheel is trying to fight me turning. I can still steer but definitely feel an opposing force with very slight vibration through the steering wheel. Then it goes away, comes and goes.

Everything else is fine, deck lift and 3 point lift as well as the transmission all work normally. Hydro fluid is clean and full on the dipstick.

Could it be the steering cylinder piston O ring failing ?

My 3205 kind of wonders left and right with the wheel held straight forward so I'm thinking it's my cylinder. Does yours do that? If so, here is the company that makes them for Cub.

No it doesn't do that.

Thanks for the link, I have a metal lathe so was thinking I would try rebuilding it if the consensus is that's what the cause is.

Maybe the bronze bushing on the steering shaft is in need of lube...

Some have had issues with the rod actually coming unscrewed from the piston in the steering cylinder.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
