Default 109 Ported Hydro Pump

Hello. I currently have the original non ported pump on my 109. I can purchase a ported pump from an 1864. Looks like the input shafts are different? Could this in any way be an easy swap or have a chance at working? I'd like to try this for running an implement.

Easy fix would be to use a 2000 series shaft. The ends will bolt to the pump and the engine. You cut the tube so that you have 6-8" on each end then insert a section of 5/8" OD shaft into the tubes, drill a 1/4" hole through the tube and shaft and hammer in a spirol pin on each end and you're all set. I did this to a 149 a few years ago at the engine end.

Or just shorten a 2000/3000 driveshaft.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but the center sections are the same according to parts book for three digit and four digit ported Sunstrand hydro units. They use different input shafts. Input shaft on 109 would be retained for use with different center section. You will also need charge pump from donor tractor. Ported pumps use a thicker g-rotor assembly for more oil flow to supply hydraulics. If thicker g-rotor assembly is not used with ported center section the transmission pump and motor may starve for oil. It is an easy mod if donor unit is complete.

That's what I suggested.

Sorry Sam, but you're talking about changing the shaft. Neither the drive shaft or the input shaft need to be changed. Just the center section with proper charge pump assembly is all that needs to be changed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
