Default 125 hydro wont move

I just removed and replaced the hydro fluid and filter on my 72 125. Now it does not move! I used a fram PF-16 for the filter, is that the problem??

I don't know about a Fram PF-16, but I use Fram PH16's and have no problems.

I would definitely get the correct filter on it, even if that’s not the problem. Also, what kind of fluid did you use? IH Hytran is recommend. Sometimes they need to be primed after changing the fluid. I have seen it recommended on here before to wrap a rag around the end of an air hose, and give it a quick shot in the fill hole to help get the fluid where it needs to go.

Also, it has nothing to do with your problem, but your 125 is not a 1972, they were made from 1967-1969.

More then once I have thrown myself for a loop on a 125. The hydro
wouldn't work because I had the lever to disengage it engaged.
I figure I might be the only one to do such a thing, but.
Since we are looking for an easy fix.

I too use TSC hydro fluid. Never a problem.
But just curious, you say tractor is on a lift,
so why wouldn't you pull the rear cover to see what lurks in there???
And besides, you didn't say if it ever moved before you did anything
so HTF do we know if it's a new problem or a 40 year old problem???

Don't forget to undo the relief valves if they have been manually pressed in...

Or, if you have never had the tractor running and going circles before this oil change, it's possible youncould have a sheared or missing pin in the driveshaft.

My crystal ball is kinda fading

We need a bit more info, when did the tractor run correctly in all its functions.I envy you have a lift, you can do a lot more visual and easier maintenance than this old part crawling around on the concrete.Seriously I doubt it's your fluid, try your old filter or a different recommended brand on the list.Switch valves like Digger said.Just don't let trashy grass clippings get in.The Hydro System is pretty bulletproof, give it another careful inspection, report back to our readers, they will put their thinking caps on and help you.
And the sponsors,on the top of the page, deserve a chance to help out!Just saying!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
