What is normal engine oil usage?
This week I was getting my 1772 ready for the upcoming mowing season. I changed the oil, oil filter, air filter and greased all the zerk fittings. I even adjusted the axle pivot bolts. When I checked my oil before the change I was down 1 quart. I didn't think much of it at first, but when I went to record the maintenance done on the 1772, I realized it done in the middle of last summer. What should typical oil usage be? I use Rotella T 15W-40 and follow the main schedule in the owners manual. I could not see any external oil leaks on the engine.

I use my 1572 to mow grass. It does not use any oil with 1662.0 hours on the clock. It has always had 30 wt oil used in it since new. I have all the receipts from the first owner, I am the second. It is never used in cold temps so I though why change it if it has been working.
How many hours are on your 1772?
