Default Hello From Metro Atlanta

Hi:

I have been an active member on airstream forums for a few years. The forums helped me with my restoration of a vintage airstream. My wife just inherited her fathers Cub Cadet 1650 with several attacments. The Cub has been sitting for several years since her father past on. It is a 1978 model and was garage kept. Her father when my wife was a little girl worked for IH and worked on cubs. The tractor looks great. It has been garage kept. I plan on using it for 10.5 acres I have. Honestly I am looking for somebody in the Metro area to go through the cub. My brother in law says he thinks there is something wrong with the valves. I am not an engine mechanic and I have never worked on equipment like this.

Does anybody know a good cub mechanic in the metro Atlanta area on the east side of the city.

Thanks for having me on the forums. This looks like a fun place to be. Airstream forums has been a bunch of fun

Brian

Hi guys:

I have a snow plow, a garden plow, and disc. It does not have a power take off. I thought it did. wish it did. It is very clean. I just want a top notch mechanic to go through it. My brother inlaw says he thinks it has a bad valve. I have not fired it up yet. I need to get a battery.

When I get time I will take a picture of it. I have the orginal seat and toyed with getting it recovered. What do you think?

Default Hi Brian and Welcome!

Nice to have ya and to see you're keepin the Cub in the family. I'm just starting my yellow fever, but will be passing on my Cubs someday, hopefully someone in my family takes them and loves them as much as I do! Good luck with your "new" toy

Interesting that airstream is coming up so often here in relation
to a cub forum. Small world I guess.
I guess folks with good taste congregate, but you need something
a little larger to jockey the airstream around the yard. Thats what
the classic Massey is for. :biggrin2.gif:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
