IH wheel weights.jpg
Dumb question time! How do you measure wheel weights properly? I was going to check around at some local dealers to see if they have any that will fit my 982. I am told that ones off the front of a Farmall will fit the rims of my 982 - is this true? What is the proper way to measure weights if I am fortunate to find any. Since we all know that there is NO chance you will find weights sitting there waiting to be purchased say..."Pick me, pick me, I am what you need!" ![]() |

It's true MH. The wheel weights fit in the front rims of the Farmall Cub.

Any chance you know how to measure them? Is the outside of the wheel weight the same measurement of the rim on my tractor (just inside the lip or bead)??

YES , Look at the pictures I just putt up in the 1211 and super progress thread. You will be able to see where the weights sit on the wheel.

All of my wheel weights fit the wheels against the lip where the valve stem comes thru the wheel. That is the part of the rim that they tighten against. Rims as shown in your picture (26#?) will fit right down into the rim. Heavier weights will extend out past the rim and tire but they still tighten down against the valve stem lip. The heavier weights fit into the lip where the tire bead seats but not with any great pressure. CC 149 001.jpg CC 149 002.jpg CC 149 005.jpg CC 149 006.jpg

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
