Are deck wheels nessacary for my 109 with 42in. cut? Some one said they will dig in the ground while turning.Mine has none and should it?

I've never had my deck wheels dig into the ground. With them adjusted properly, they really shouldn't be riding on the ground with the full weight of the deck anyway. As far as a 109, I don't know if that deck is suppose to have wheels.

Ga.Cubby,
Not sure which 42" deck you have but the one that originally came on my 109 didn't have any wheels. It had what I would call "ski's", they were a flat on one side and rounded on the other, they went under the deck near the ends and were bent around to bolt back on top of the deck. I have also seen a similar type thing on other decks the only difference was that they were made out of round stock instead of flat.

Ga.Cubby
My old deck is a 422U1113 the "ski" on the left side bolts to the holes directly in front of and directly behind the identification tag, the "ski" on the right side is in about 4" from the end of the deck.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
