i'm not sure as to what type/kind of pin this is. it is drove through the lift handle, securing it to the rockshaft. is this something the PO did or is standard on the 108? my 1200 has a spirol pin in it. this thing is a PITA. it won't budge no matter what i do. PB blaster, hammer and a punch, drilling it, and vise grips twisting and beating on them.

try a air hammer with a roll pin bit. I have found that will move about any thing.

Looks like you have the edges all peened over. You might have to grind it flat and start over.

on the shorter side of it, that is why it's short. thats the 3rd time i cut it and then beat it. i can't cut it anymore on that side and i don't want to really ruin the other side. i don't understand why some one has to do half butt job of fixing things, do it right the first time, someone else may own it later!!! jeff

You need penetrating oil, too...it will come out a lot faster/easier that way.

just to let everyone know, i got that piece of steel rod out of where the roll pin is supposed to go!!! got my thumb with the 3# sledge, hurts just a little! got the lift lever cleaned, greased, put back together and working like a charm. i found out today, the top part of the lever that holds the spring retainer (actually the whole lever itself) can be cleaned out with a 20/28 gauge bore brush and the extension rod chucked up in a good 'ol drill!!!!! used PB blaster as my "bore" cleaner! also chucked up the inside connector in the lathe and smoothed it up. have a good day!!! jeff

For what its worth, when I change oil in my tractors I normally put 10 or 20 drops of the used oil down the lift handle, if I'm not in a rush sometimes I'll hold the the bottle upside down and let what's left of the new oil run down into the handle.
I learned to do this about 20 years ago when the inner parts of my 109 got stuck down and I had to "mess" with it to get it back up. |
