Default 782 gas/oil coming from breather

I bought a 782 that I previously owned. While it was owned by someone else they put another fuel pump on it and now when it starts oil/gas comes out of the breather hose and floods out the carb. I’m assuming they put the wrong fuel pump in it?

I would assume bad float, maladjusted float,.

As long as it is a low pressure pump it should not force fuel past the float.

Lets see a pic of it

I'm thinking if the tank is full and the tractor is parked on a slope nose downhill, it should run without a fuel pump. So I'd bypass the fuel pump and see if the problem persists.

I'm not too familiar with a 782, but in most equipment that indicates the needle valve is not closing.

Bad needle valve, stuck float, float not floating are some of the possible causes.

I think you have two different problems
1. Your needle and seat in the carb is leaking.
2. The reed valve under the breather tube coming from the valve lifter is bad.
On all my 782s I install a fuel shut off valve just before the fuel pump. If you don't shut off the fuel all the fuel will fill up your engine crankcase with gas.
If the reed valve is bad your engine builds up internal crankcase pressure and will
blow oil out the breather tube.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
