I just finished a rebuild on a Cub Cadet 100 early 60s . I rebuilt motor, clutch, electronics, etc. I bought a creeper gear for NF from a cub Cadet parts supplier.
I broke the tractor and installed the creeper with gear on transmission and pin. I have just completed the job and everything works great except the creeper appears to be always in hi gear . I initially used 75-90 w gear oil in it and just changed to 30w. To my dismay it will not move to the lower gear with 4:1 ratio. It only goes halfway in the gear slot towards the rear and does not hit the front metal of the slot. Any ideas. I used the pin to install the gear on transmission side and bolted it on with bolts and gasket supplied by store. The front side I bolted it onto short drive shaft with a 1/4 in bolt. Need help hear. Cannot imagine why it will not go into low gear. The place seemed very reputable. I put new clutch on and shortened drive shaft. Also used Kirk point saver and Bosch coil. It runs like a top and started up right away after rebuild. Please anyone have some insight what is wrong here. Before I installed creeper gear it appeared to shift fine. Thanks. Doug |

You should download the manual and see if there is an issue and get back to us.
You will have to remove the creeper to fix it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
