Mystery Wheel part/ "What is it?"
Just going over my 126 that I picked up recently and found a couple of things that are inconsistent with the Parts Manual.
The one thing that I'm trying to identify now is a real mystery (to me anyway). In the pictures it is located between the wheel and the end of the axle. In one picture I've outlined it in red. To me it looks way too small to be a wheel weight. It's bolted to the axle and then the wheel is bolted to it. I've also included a photo looking at the wheel. Any ideas?

:biggrin2.gif: That's awsome! I'm glad someone was able to ID the things. Guess one of the PO's must have wanted a wider stance for the rear axle.
Now that I know they're not vital they can come off. Thanks!

For some reason I think I remember that the cub lowboy's had those on them.

Turns out they are indeed a Cub Lowboy part (Cub Cadet IH-530645-R2 SPACER, HIGH FLOTATION WHEEL). I guess they are used with a wide tire (i.e. high floatation). So if you wanted to run wider rims than OEM on a Cub Cadet you could use these. Funny, because this tractor doesn't have particularly wide rear tires. I don't own a Cub Lowboy (and don't have any interest in them, I think they sit too low). So, what to do with them now? JC7172: I'll get some pics of the tractor on Sunday and put them up. I was looking further and this poor little tractor has suffered some other indignities; for some reason (maybe the wheel spacers) the mower deck has been modified with some really ugly welding. And I'm not convinced it's the proper mower deck or hanger because you can't make a very sharp left turn without the front wheel getting bound up against the front edge of the deck, right turns are no problem. And some PO repainted the tractor in a very EARL SCHEIB fashion. With the exception of the seat, tires, and hood it is one monlithic block of some version of yellow. No, of course there was no sanding or primer. Thanks again for your help guys!
