In reading the 100 chassis manual the only mention of lubrication of the front axel pivot point is if you remove the axel. Is there no grease zerk on the pivot point?
Thanks |

Nope, I don't think so.
Neither my 70 or the 100 has 'em. I fixed that though and installed fittings in both of them. They have a tendency to seize the pin in the axle and then break the spirol pin in the front bushing. Then the only way to get them apart is to cut the axle with a Sawzall and press the pin out. A new replacement pin will have a grease well turned into it, or at least it should have. |

Thanks for that information. Seems odd that there is no fitting. Anyway, thanks.

It's something that IH fixed later, at least by the 1x4/5 series. Not sure if the 1x2/3 had it or not.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
