Engine runs great but begins to have a miss after 5 to 10 minutes of work. I found a post in a kubota forum where someone had the same issue on a wg600, after several years, he replaced his ignition coil and it solved his issue. Can I use any ignition coil, like an msd from my local parts store or do I have to get the kubota one?

If it were me, I would use the proper Ignition Coil(s).

I was mainly curious if anyone had used a different coil.

If you are speaking about the distributor, them puppies are expensive. You can find whole engines in the $4-500 range.

https://buffalo.craigslist.org/grd/6180332468.html Think fuel issues first. Remove fuel tank- clean thoroughly, remove tank valves-clean/replace, put new rubber tank bungs back in with the valves, replace every inch of fuel line with new fuel and clamps, and new fuel filter. Then onto checking the fuel pump and carburetor. Also, the power supply to the fuel shut off valve on carburetor can be notorius for inopportune shut downs. The 2182 in my link below did the same shut down trick. After fuel system maintenance and complete rewire it runs great.

I bought a $20 12v ignition coil from Advance Auto and has worked perfect. Will it last as long as a Denso or Bosch? Who knows, but with a Lifetime Warranty I will take my chances rather than spending $110.

Here is an update that may be helpful to others who might experience a miss in their WG-600. I had a similar issue with the engine missing after working under load for a bit.

I replaced the ignition coil with this one from Advance Auto: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...9-P#fragment-1 It helped with the mis some but it was still there. So I then considered that vapor lock might be occurring. So, I wrapped the fuel line with foil from the fuel pump to the carb and from the fuel pump back to the fuel filter. Bingo! No mis whatsoever. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
