Default 124 Valve sticking
I have a 124 and it was doing the same thing. I ended up checking the valve clearance. The intake was ok. The exhaust was at .008. I set it to .018 and all has been fine since. Hope this helps. Dave

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
