Default Transmission high low gear won't move.

I hope this is in the correct place and not another we have heard it a hundred times posts. I know how frustrating it can be. I have a 1966 Cub Cadet IH 122 with the high low on it. I hope someone can help me fruuuuuustrated and smashed a finger, we have all been there. So I bought it a few days ago and it drove ok for age, I started up a small incline and it felt like it went into neutral. So I check everything, shaft is spinning nothing being produced to the rear. So I figure from the posts it is the pin in the rear no such luck. As much as I didn't want to do it I split the rear from the tractor. What confuses me is after taking it apart I lifted the front of the transmission up while in gear and the short input shaft was spinning. I can take the short input shaft that goes into the transmission spin it by hand and the rear wheels move. Also the clutch was not slipping. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Did you remove the creeper? There is another pin inside.

sounds like the creeper handle pin came out of the collar inside. It's common. When this happens it's normally stuck in between ranges

I didn't remove the creeper yet but will. The only thing that didn't make me think that was is it was the moving the rear wheels when I turned it manually.

The shifter for low and high moved freely from low to high. The lever looks like it runs all the way through from left to right. It there an exploded view of the creeper or who made it?

It was made by IH, and you can find an "exploded" view the same place you find any of the parts pics....cubcadet.com. Upper right corner, click "parts and service" then enter your model number, then choose the part assembly you want to look at.

we were all "new" at one time. Some of us were "new" to garden tractors 40 some years ago, but it was still "new".
You gotta start sometime, no time like the present.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
