Thumbs up So after 29 years where I work .......

I gave my two week notice last week. I have this coming week as my last.

You could have parked a dump truck in the owner's open mouth when I told him. He asked if there was anything he could do to get me to reconsider.

I said I didn't line up another job to extort money out of you. I've already made up my mind and the ball is rolling. I did say I would help out as much as I could during the time I'm still here.

Then I left the office and went back to work.

The shop where I'm going has been in business since the 1965, is very well managed and most employees have been there for decades. I will be in line for the supervisor position when he retires.

Good money, I'll start with three weeks vacation and as an added bonus, it's an air conditioned shop.

I can't wait.

Jeff

I'm sure it was still a tough thing to do Jeff. 29 years is a long time to be somewhere working at the same place. Have to give you credit for that. Good people are hard to find and your field of work is so specialized I'm sure the owner of your company realizes that.

I got offered a lot more money to stay after spending ten years at my last place when I gave my notice. Ironic that it was never offered before that lol. But I did learn a lot at the place so no hard feelings, still see the owner once in a while now twelve years later and shake his hand.

Sounds like you are appreciated at the new place with the benefits you listed so congratulations as well.

Whoever takes over my spot will have some big shoes to fill. I can program, setup and run every machine in both the machine shop and the weld shop. Plus the vast knowledge of all the different jobs and fixtures that are used.

I had told the owner before I wasn't going to line up another job just to squeeze money out of him.

It's a good move for me. As an added bonus, I will access to a water jet cutter now

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
