I found a fellow about a hour away from me. He has a #5 IH trailer and a cub cadet GT for sale. I didnt stare to hard at the mower so i dont recall the model number but i do remember it was a narrow frame hydro bone stock with no accessories or attachments. The mower hasnt ran in some time...at least 5 years but it has been covered...under a tree. The trailer is what i was more interested in but it is really really rough. No floor, beat up fenders, broken light brackets, flat tires and so on. He wont seperate the two and is pretty steep on his price.
I would like to hear some opinions on the trailers value and maybe see some pics. I cant find much info on them. Thanks

Iluvruks50: That Model 5 Tailer is pretty rare these days. I have The Operators manual and a Parts Manual for it. I'd recommend getting it. If you do, email me at: cubcadet@windstream.net & we'll get to gether on getting you copies of the Parts & Operator's manuals.
I have all there versions of the later trailer the Model 1200 and a Model 2000. The Model 1200 replaced the Model 5 and the Model 2000 replaced the Model 7.

Sounds like it would be a neat trailer to have, David. Do you see a lot of cubs for sale in your area? I never see any here.

MBounds, do you have a picture of the #5? Are there any differances between the 1200 and the 5? Telling the truth, i was told its a #5 so i guess they could be wrong so some pic identification would be excellent.
He wants $500 for both the mower and trailer. I would sell the cub but its barely worth $150. Would I still be doing ok on the trailer for having around $350 in it? Plus all the new parts and labor that will have to go in it. ACECIL: Yes, i would say i do see a good bit of cubs for sale. I know 3 guys near me that have around 50 totaled up and everything is for sale for the right price. You looking for anything in particular?

Truks: Yes, I can come up with a photo. However, if it's got fenders, it's a Model 5. The later and wider Model 1200 has the wheels under the trailer floor and thus does not have fenders. If you want a Hi-Res of that spec sheet, I'm still gonna need that email address!!

It would be nice if one of the IH historians could do a write up on each of the trailers that they produced and it could be stickied. Pics with it would even be icing on the cake!

DYT: I can probably handle the Cub & Cub Cadet trailers, but to do all the other trailers IH made would be a major, major research/writing project. The IH Industrial division also made trailers to move huge farm & industrial equipment like combines, draglines, bulldozers etc. I have a bit of it but certainly don't have all that info and don't live close enough to the U of Wisconsin to get into the archives.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
