I can't imagine where I lost my ignition key but I did and now I am not sure if I have the original switch or not. Does anyone know where to buy a new set of keys? There are a lot of five post switches on Ebay but most do not have the same pattern that mine does on the back. I'm trying to not have to remove the switch if I can but am not sure what to do about a new key. Any advice?
Thanks

It just takes an Indak key. Nothing special. Most hardware stores or anywhere that sells small engine or mower parts stock them. Part stores too. No big deal.

There are more than one type of key they make,BTDT, looks like you can remove the switch, take it to the store, or buy a few and see if it fits and return the others.

My 2 1811's, snow blower and Scag all use the same key. Figured I should keep one handy.

Yes, Indak makes more than one key, but not for the ignitions switches. They all are like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2723206...&ul_noapp=true |

One more question and that is the measurements of the CC 1811 seat pan bolt pattern. My old after market seat with a universal pattern has worn out and all I have to measure is the flip up mounting plate which looks like 11"W x 10"L slot. Anyone have a good model to recommend? BTW, I found the Indak key at my local ACE. He didn't actually sell them any longer but had one on a key chain that he didn't know where it came from and just gave it to me! I love having an ACE near my home. They are the best. I also went ahead and ordered a steel pan universal high back seat that said it will fit the 1811. It was $62 plus $22 shipping. I'll let you all now what it looks like. I am replacing the black seat that you see with the arm rests on it that I bought about two years ago. What a piece of junk! It sold for $99 and had free shipping but the vinyl fell apart in the second year and the arm rests were only for your arms if you were sitting in the seat. If you tried to raise up using them they broke. I had to weld them up and replace all of the cheap plastic components with steel so that they were usable.

I have this one to put on my mp982.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEAT-FOR-IH-...QAAOSwsN9W~-pY I put this one on my 882 4 or 5 years ago and so far it works great. I did have to drill the bottom to fit. http://www.surpluscenter.com/Brands/...-1-3202-BK.axd

Wow! For a moment I thought you two were talking about the seat with the arm rests on it! What a piece of junk.
As it turned out several members here told me at the time I wouldn't get much use out of any type of arm rests and they were right. I do use it occasionally but not very often. I remember plowing long stretches as a youngster and always wanted arm rests but when mowing I am moving my arms so much there is no time for them on the rests.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
